Chesapeake

[dmalbum path=”/wp-content/uploads/dm-albums/Chesapeake/”/]On Tuesday,May 15 we left Norfolk,Virginia and entered the Chesapeake. On Thursdy,May 17 We arrived at the Rod and Reel Marina in Chesapeake Beach. In the early 1900’s Otto Mears designed Chesapeake Beach as a resort town to compete with Atlantic City and Coney Island complete with a beachfromt hotel, casino, amusement park and its own passenger railroad service. It wasn’t destined to last long due to financial hardship caused by the Great Depression.

One Response to Chesapeake

  1. Tina says:

Dear Al and Julie, It looks as though you two should get home soon. Al (I assume that is Al in the red striped attire) is wasting away. Before you leave you should have a crab meal and look up where Chars family is from. Maybe you could experience a crabing adventure. Again I look forward to hearing about your adventures. I don’t think I have been in the Chesapeake area. (Sounds like a road trip in my future.) Bye for now and have a great Memorial Day.
