On Thursdy,May 17 We arrived at the Rod and Reel Marina in Chesapeake Beach.In the early 1900’s Otto Mears designed Chesapeake Beach as a resort town to compete with Atlantic City and Coney Island complete with a beachfromt hotel,casino,amusement park and its own passenger railroad service.It wasn’t destined to last long due to financial hardship caused by the Great Depression.

Julie Brattset is the author of "They Call My Grandpa Captain". She was born in Chicago, IL. and now lives in Holland, Michigan with her husband, Al Brattset. She enjoys spending the summers on the boat with her family and friends.
Al Brattset is the illustrator of "They Call My Grandpa Captain". He began illustrating in 2012 after completing the "Great Loop". He wanted to share his love of boating with his grandchildren.
